Parking for Beaver Pond and "The Dentist's House"

This spot, located just across Weston Road from a field where bobolinks nest in the spring, is a handy place from which to launch a walk through the woods to Lincoln's Beaver Pond, then from the Pond down Stony Brook to the lusciously landscaped grounds behind "The Dentist's House" where, in an office perched on a rocky outcrop overlooking woods and water, patients occasionally wave to walkers. From here to "Lincolnshire", a fully functioning pasture in which sheep and shepherds are welcome to mingle, is only a short distance. Got a little border collie in your genes? We'll find out! To get there:

From Route 128/95

Easy. Take Exit 28 for Trapelo Road toward Lincoln and drive about 1.8 miles to Silver Hill Road. It'll come up on the left shortly after you pass Winter Street/Page Road (at this intersection Winter goes left, Page to the right). Turn left on Silver Hill Road and stay on it for 0.7 miles, at which point Weston Road enters from the right. Continue straight ahead on what is now Weston Road to Woodcock Lane, then a short way past it to a driveway (also on the right) with whose owners Lincoln has negotiated official Beaver Pond parking for four, perhaps, six vehicles. If we can't all fit here, no problem, Woodcock Lane is a good place for latecomers to park.

128/95 Avoidance Strategies

From Route 2 or 2A

Drive to the intersection of Route 2 (or 2A) with Bedford Street and take it toward Lincoln. Climb and then descend to the stop sign at Trapelo Road, stop, then drift through it and quickly left onto Weston Road. Follow Weston Road past the Pierce House and its park-like grounds to the sharp, sharp right turn where Silver Hill Road enters from the left. Woodcock Lane is on the right, about 0.2 miles after this 90-degree turn; Beaver Pond parking is 0.1 miles beyond.

From Route 117 or Route 20

From Weston Center take Concord Road to Merriam Street, bear right on Merriam and continue to Route 117 (where it changes its name first to Lincoln Street and then, as it crosses Route 117, to Weston Road). Cross 117 to Weston Road, or turn from it onto Weston Road, and drive 0.8 miles to the Beaver Pond parking area or 0.95 miles to Woodcock Lane.
