Stoneham - The Sheepfold

The "Sheepfold" is a classic location for walking dogs (and people!) or launching hikes and off-road rides in northern portions of the Middlesex Fells. Parking for these activities is available in a two-tiered lot located just off Route 28 in Stoneham. To get there:

From Route 128/95

If you know a way to sneak through Winchester to Forest Street, do it, and follow the "From Winchester" instructions. If not, take 128/95 to Route 93 south and drive toward Boston. Get off at exit 35 (Stone Zoo, Route 28). At the bottom of the exit ramp turn left onto Fallon Drive and duck under 93. This quickly brings you to North Border Road. Turn right and follow North Border Road to Route 28 (the first set of lights). Turn right onto 28, cross back over Route 93 and, shortly afterwards, start looking for a "Sheepfold Parking" sign on the right. Don't panic if it doesn't come along immediately; it's there somewhere. When you find it, turn right onto the access road and drive to the farther lot. Park.

From Winchester

Washington Street to Forest, then take Forest Street up and over Route 93 (where Forest becomes Marble). Turn right onto Park Street at the first set of lights (Park becomes North Border Road). At the intersection of North Border Road and Route 28 (first set of lights), turn right onto 28, cross back over Route 93 and, shortly afterwards, start looking for a "Sheepfold Parking" sign on the right. Don't panic if it doesn't come along immediately; it's there somewhere. When you find it, turn right onto the access road and drive to the farther lot. Park..

Hop on Route 28 and stay on it up and over 93, start looking for a "Sheepfold Parking" sign on the right, and proceed as indicated above when you spot it.
