Directions to Burlington's Recreation Center

The Recreation Center is located at 61 Center Street (the Center for Human Services building), just off Route 3A, a little beyond the Town Common/Municipal Megaplex (Town Hall, Fire Station, Police Station, Library) and across Center Street from a good-looking senior housing development. Due to an obscuring line of foliage tracing the boundary between the Center's entrance and an ancient residence, a fairly sharp eye is needed to spot the entrance on the first try. This, however, is not a serious problem; because the entrance road loops around in front of the building in which the Recreation Center is housed, therefore touching Center Street twice, one gets two trys. 

From 128/95

From all starting points (except Burlington!) find the quickest way to Route 128/95 and drive it toward Burlington. From 128/95, take Route 3A (Exit 33) west toward Burlington Center and drive a mile or so to the Common, a large expanse of green on the right. At the lights just before the Common, namely at Bedford Street, turn right and drive along the Common's southern edge. Center Street, which defines the Common's northern edge, soon merges with and subsumes Bedford Street. To the motorist, this important cartographic event is of little consequence; other than serving as a landmark, the merging of Bedford into Center Street feels the same as driving straight ahead on the same road. The Human Services Building Center is on the left, about a block beyond the merge, so begin to look for it shortly after passing the Common. Drive to left of the building, through to the rear of the parking lot, and ….. park.
