Parking for the Minuteman National Historical Park Visitor's Center
It was through the Park and towns surrounding it that, one early morning in April 1775, British regulars marched from Boston, fired on the colonials at Lexington Green, then shouldered arms and continued in good order to Concord over what came, later (and for good reason), to be known as the Battle Road. Retreating over the same Road late that day, harassed by thousands of minutemen and taking heavy casualties, the "redcoats" fought their way back to Boston and (short lived) safety. The Visitor's Center is strategically located along what was a fiercely contested portion of the original line of march, between Fiske Hill and the site of Paul Revere's capture. It features, among other things, a wonderful half-hour long multimedia depiction of events during the twenty four hours leading up to, and encompassing, the fighting. If time permits, plan to stay for the show. You won't be disappointed.
To avoid disappointment with our directions, you may want to "do it yourself" using MapQuest or a GPS system; if so, use the coordinates given at the bottom of this page.
From Lexington
Take Massachusetts Avenue from downtown, over 128/95, to its intersection with Route 2A. Turn right on 2A and drive past Minuteman Tech another half mile or so to the Visitor's Center parking lot. It's on the right, prominently marked with a "Minuteman Visitor's Center" sign. Drive in the access road and find a good spot.
Or ...
Take 2A from downtown, cross over 128/95 and continue along 2A to the Visitor's Center.
From points north or south of Lexington
Make your way to Route 128/95, get on it going toward Lexington, and drive to Exit 30B. Prominent signage preceding your arrival at the exit alerts you to take 30B variously for Minuteman Tech, Concord, and Route 2A. Get off at Exit 30B; get on Route 2A westbound and drive it, past Minuteman Tech, another half mile or so to the Visitor's Center parking lot. It's on the right, prominently marked. Drive in the access road and find a good spot.
From points west
Drive Route 2 east, through the Concord rotary, past Emerson Hospital, to the lights at the "Concord Turnpike Cutoff Bypass Road," the primary access road from Route 2 to Route 2A (Route 2 makes a sharp right here; maneuver into the left lane for the Bypass towards 2A). Take the Cutoff to its intersection with Route 2A, bearing right there and continuing east toward Lincoln and Lexington on 2A. From the intersection, the Visitor's Center is about two miles down the road, on the left.
Or ...
Take Route 225 east to Bedford Center, then Route 62 toward Concord. When Route 62 forks at the Pine Tree Farm, take the left branch (Old Bedford Road) and drive to its intersection with Route 2A. Turn left here, and continue on 2A roughly three miles to the Visitor's Center parking lot, on the left.
