Middlesex Community College

Directions to

Middlesex Community College

The College (hereafter MCC), situated just off Route 3 in northern Bedford, offers a sumptuous almost brand new campus surrounded by an extensive and virtually unknown-to-hikers wooded tract. Hidden in the woods are a quiet pond where Marist fathers, whose seminary is now a College building, walked and reflected in the soothing atmosphere of the still waters; remnants of religious shrines which may one day inspire College-based archeologists; and more to the point for us a little used trail network rolling through stately second growth pines.  While the trails are seldom used, the College (and its parking lots!) is a beehive of student activity on weekdays. For this reason we’ve opted for the parking lot furthest from the campus center as the starting point for MCC-based events. To get there ask MapQuest for directions to the intersection of “copeland drive at springs road” or “ellingson road at springs road” (the entrance to MCC is on Springs Road and between these two intersections) in “Bedford” or take a chance on the directions given below.

From Route 128/95

From 128/95 take Exit 32 A/B for Route 3 north (and the Middlesex Turnpike … but avoid the Turnpike).  Drive Route 3 to the Concord Road Exit (Exit 27) in Billerica, turn left at the top of the off ramp, drive about 1.1 miles to Springs Road, and turn left onto it. A landmark: Shortly before Springs Road comes up you’ll pass through a blinking yellow light at the entrance to an industrial park.  Continue on Springs Road roughly a mile to MCC’s “back door.” This is on the left, prominently marked. Take it. Drive over the speed bumps and just past the Facilities Department buildings to Lot G, on the right. Park.

Alternatively, take Exit 31B from Route 128/95 and merge onto Route 225 toward Bedford. Drive west 2.28 miles on Route 225 (becomes the Great Road) through the lights at Hartwell Avenue, Shawsheen Road, the Great Road Shopping Center, Loomis Street, and the Bedford Shopping Center. The first right following this last set of lights is Hillside Avenue. Turn right on it, drive past the Evans’ house, and then continue another (roughly) two miles along Springs Road, through the four way stop and the VA Hospital, to MCC. Turn right and find Lot G, as above.

As always …

*** Good Luck !!! ***
