This 200 acre greenspace, located partly in Burlington and partly in Woburn and now being eyed by developers as a future home for yet more off-128 high rises (never mind that Mary willed it should be kept "forever open as a public pleasure ground"), is a well kept secret. If you're not a radio-controlled model airplane pilot, off road cyclist, or commercial real estate agent, you've probably never heard of it. The land, according to the WREN (Woburn Residents Environmental Network) website, "is a former farm from which Cummingsville derived its name, and still has the magnificent stone walls once associated with the Cummings Estate. It provides valuable environmental resources and is home to over a hundred species of birds, along with deer, coyotes, foxes, and other animals. The open meadows provide habitat for a dizzying array of butterflies and dragonflies, while the wetlands and undeveloped open space play an important role in regulating local water resources." To get there:

From Route 128/95

Drive to Exit 33A (Route 3 south/Cambridge Street toward Winchester) and continue in the direction of Winchester a short distance, moving immediately to the far right in anticipation of making a right turn when you reach the lights at Wayside Road (first set of lights). Go right on Wayside Road and climb past the new Wayside Common to the lights at South Bedford Street. When it is appropriate to do so continue straight ahead to Van de Graaf Drive and into the massive business park containing, among other tenants, Oracle.  Oracle is situated at the farthest end of the Drive; just before you reach the building proper, there's a small, usually empty, parking lot on the left. That's where we'll be.

From other places

Avoid Route 128/95 if you can by finding your way to Route 3A/Cambridge Street and driving it to Wayside Road. Once there, terminal navigation is as above.
