Directions to Stoneham's Greenwood Park
Greenwood Park and its several playing fields are located off Pond Street, almost precisely across from the Stone Zoo. Getting there is practically the same as getting to the "Sheepfold" parking lot, but not quite; accordingly, we've modified our Sheepfold directions to incorporate the extra steps and offer them below, with the usual caveats.
From Winchester
Take Washington Street to Forest Street, then drive Forest Street up and over Route 93 (where Forest becomes Marble Street). Turn right onto Park Street at the first set of lights (Park becomes North Border Road). At the intersection of North Border Road and Route 28 go straight through the lights to South Street, which quickly becomes a divided highway and changes its name to Pond Street; continue on Pond Street past the Stone Zoo (and past Greenwood Park on the left side of the highway), making a U-turn as soon as this can legally be done and returning along Pond Street to the Park.
From Everywhere Else
If you know a way to sneak through Winchester to Forest Street, do it, and follow the "From Winchester" instructions. If not, take 128/95 to Route 93 south and drive toward Boston. Get off at exit 35 (Stone Zoo, Route 28). At the bottom of the exit ramp turn left onto Fallon Drive and duck under 93. This quickly brings you to North Border Road. Turn right and follow North Border Road to Route 28 (the first set of lights). Go straight through the lights to South Street, which soon becomes a divided highway and changes its name to Pond Street; continue on Pond Street past the Stone Zoo (and past Greenwood Park on the left side of the highway), making a U-turn as soon as this can legally be done and returning along Pond Street to the Park.
