Frost Farm Conservation Area

Sudbury's Frost Farm Conservation Area is a relatively new acquisition and a perfect place from which to launch walks and rides exploring areas proximate to Concord's White Pond. It's just off North Road/Route 117, a little over a mile west of the lights where Sudbury Road crosses it at the "Four Corners".  Look for a clutch of signs on the right saying, respectively, "142 North Road/Vividon" and "Town of Sudbury/Frost Farm/Public Trails." They're pretty obvious, at least when seen while driving west on Route 117, which is the only vantage we've personally explored. Turn right here if coming from the Four Corners (left if you're driving east on 117); this is Frost Farm Village Road; climb the hill (staying left when the road forks) to Meetinghouse Lane, turn right there and drive a short distance (past the old Frost Farmhouse, currently being restored) to the gravel-covered parking area on the left. Should be room for about ten cars if we park close together.

If you decide to let MapQuest do the work of providing directions, ask it to deliver you to "142 North Road" in "Sudbury".  When we asked the 'Quest how to get to Frost Farm Village Road from Route 128/95, here's what it said:

From Route 128/95

Take Exit 29B west and merge onto Route 2 toward Acton and Fitchburg. Drive 3.5 miles to the Concord Turnpike lights, at which point Route 2 makes a sharp left, and from these lights another 2.1 miles to the lights at Sudbury Road. Turn left onto Sudbury Road and continue down it 2.1 miles to the lights at "Four Corners" and the Fitchburg Turnpike/Route 117, then go right on 117 and drive 1.4 miles to Frost Farm Road on the right. Then climb up to Meetinghouse Road and the parking lot, as described above.

From Lexington's Minuteman statue

MapQuest estimates proceeding down 128 and 2 in this fashion will bring you to Frost Farm Road in 22 minutes.

From Weston's Town Hall

Drive Church Street, Conant Road, Merriam Street, or Concord Road north to Route 117, then turn left and take 117 over the Sudbury River to the lights at Sudbury Road/Four Corners. Go straight through the lights, continuing on 117 1.4 miles to Frost Farm Road. This should take about 20 minutes.

From Wellesley

Go north on Weston or Ash Roads to School Street, and eventually across Route 20 to the Post Road at Weston's Town Hall. Go left on the Post Road, drive through downtown Weston to Concord Road, and continue to the fork where Merriam Street goes right. Take Merriam Street to Route 117, turn left, and proceed as above.  Elapsed time from Wellesley's Town Hall ought to be about half an hour, give or take a little.

*** Good Luck !!! ***

This is about the best we can do; Frost Farm Village Road and Meetinghouse Lane don’t show on our maps. But they’re real and following the directions given above will get you to the parking area.
