Parking for the Fairbank Community Center

The Center is a sprawling complex housing a host of education, recreation, and community-centric facilities, including expansive playing fields catering to a variety of different sports. Most importantly for us, it’s a handy gateway to the Assabet National Wildlife Refuge, the Assabet River Rail Trail Corridor, and points of interest in Stow, Hudson, Marlboro and Sudbury’s other western neighbors.  Acres of parking, both immediately adjacent to the ball fields and across the street near the Center’s buildings, support Fairbank’s activities. Look for us on the ball field side.

To get there … As always, we recommend you consult a good suburban atlas, a directions-generating website such as MapQuest, or your GPS helper for the best route from your starting location to Fairbank Road , but if you’re a risk taker, take a chance on the directions below:

From Route 128/95 (North people)

Drive 128/95 to Route 2 (Exit 29B) and go west on Route 2 approximately 5.6 miles to the lights at Sudbury Road. Turn left on Sudbury Road and go south (as Sudbury Road undergoes a name change and becomes Concord Road) another 6.4 miles to Route 27. Along the way you’ll go straight across Route 117, pass the Nashawtuck Golf Course, turn left at the stop sign where Pantry Road enters from the right, then pass Lincoln-Sudbury High and Featherland Park before arriving at Route 27.  Turn right (stop lights) when you reach Route 27. In 0.4 miles bear left to Hudson Road as Route 27 forks to the right. Fairbank Road is another 1.5 miles along Hudson Road. Turn right when you reach it. The parking area is just ahead on the left. 

An alternative for drivers from the north

If you’re willing to risk lengthy morning delays on Route 128 southbound, there’s always Route 20; see below.

 From Route 20 (South people)

Find Route 20 and drive it to Wayland Center, then turn right onto the combined Routes 27 and 126. Continue on Route 27 when, almost immediately 126 forks right. Stay on Route 27 to, and straight thru, the lights in Sudbury Center where, at the Town Hall, Concord Road goes off to the right. Drive about 0.4 miles and bear left to Hudson Road as Route 27 forks to the right. Fairbank Road is another 1.5 miles along Hudson Road. Turn right when you reach it. The parking area is just ahead on the left.
